Multi One Design 70’ measurement rules


1. Preliminary measurement rules

The official “2010-2020” measurement rules will be published no later than 31 January 2012 following the sailing test period for the MOD 70’ series boats 1 and 2.

The general rules are defined as follows:
* All MOD 70’ boats shall participate in the Multi One Championship races under the strict one-design rules defined by MOD S.A. All boats shall comply with the official racing rules and regulations and the official measurement rules defined by MOD S.A.

* Each boat shall hold an annual measurement certificate issued by the ISAF official measurer and by MOD Ltd, certificate that shall be allocated to each boat at the beginning of the season at the launch of the boat.

* The class insignia (MOD 70’ Design – MOD S.A. described in Appendix VII) shall appear on all boats during racing or outside racing, during delivery and during all public relations or communication operations.

* The measurement controls shall be conducted solely by official measurers approved by MOD Ltd. Each boat may be checked at any moment during the racing season.

2. Specific (preliminary) measurement rules
All MOD 70’ boats shall comply with the one-design rules of Multi One Design S.A.

* Appendages: strict one-design rule, with one spare rudder on each boat. Foil wedges shall be discussed between the first five owners, free renewal.

* Rigging: strict one-design rule. Renewal possibilities shall be defined subsequently with the first five owners.

* Sails: A set of sails to be used for delivery and public relations purposes shall be given to each team purchasing an MOD 70’. This set of sails shall be one-design and valid for three years. Each team purchasing an MOD 70’ shall be supplied with a second set of sails for racing purposes.

* Control of sails replacement: From year y+1 onwards, a system of official stickers (buttons – permanent identification) to be displayed on the sails will be set up. The number of stickers shall be defined upon the racing programme and the first racing seasons.

* On-board electronics and communication/production equipment: strictly one-design. After-sales service with the official MOD 70’ supplier(s). Computer equipment allowed shall be discussed with the first five owners.

3. Measurement disputes committee
The disputes committee shall consist of an official measurer (ISAF / MOD Ltd), a representative of MOD S.A. (President of Committee), a representative of the “owners and skippers” commission, and a representative of the organiser of the related Multi One Championship event (if the dispute occurs during a race). Depending on the case, an expert may be nominated according to the specific nature of the dispute to be resolved.

The official rules & regulations and the measurement rules for the 2012-2014 Multi One Championship will be available no later than 31 January 2012 on the website.
